Injured horse rider receives £11,100 compensation

HorseSolicitor was instructed on a no-win no-fee basis to act for Ms P following an accident that occurred whilst out hacking.

The circumstances of the accident were that Ms P was riding past a construction site when suddenly her horse fell. Ms P sustained whiplash type symptoms and lower back pain which required steroid injections. Fortunately her horse only sustained minor injuries.

A letter of claim was sent alleging that the contractors were liable because they had left debris in the road. The debris acted like marbles and made it impossible for the horse to remain upright.

Liability was admitted but causation (that the index accident was the cause of the injury) was challenged.

Following discussions an early offer was made in the sum of £11,100. The offer was accepted.
