HorseSolicitor wins accident claim in which 2 horses were killed
The accident circumstances were that our client, Michele Clark, was hacking out with a friend on their regular Sunday morning ride. They were riding in single file with our client positioned at the rear of the ride.
Our client’s horse was hit from behind by a car, causing her to fall and sustain injury.
The horse sadly sustained fatal injuries and the second horse died of a heart attack, brought on by the stress it experienced at the accident scene.
A civil claim was brought and liability was established early on in our client’s favour.
Our client sustained serious injuries and the claim could not be settled until she had a clear prognosis.
The driver, Karen Higgins, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention at Horsham Magistrates’ Court. She was given five points on her licence, a £600 fine and was ordered to pay costs.
